HBO Latin America adds 101 jobs in Coral Gables

HBO Latin America is growing its Miami-Dade County presence, expecting to add 101 jobs over the next two years and soon to relocate to a new headquarters in double its current space.

"We are growing in Latin America," said Miguel Oliva, vice president of marketing, in explaining why the company needs to add to its existing 266-person workforce here.

"We broadcast from Mexico to Argentina."

"It's going to be different positions in different fields, from marketing to operations to production," he added.
The Beacon Council, Miami-Dade's economic development organization, helped HBO Latin America win state and local incentives, conduct research and analyze the market.

The premium television network won county and state qualified target industry tax refund incentives.
HBO Latin America will move its headquarters to 396 Alhambra Circle during the year's third quarter.

The 66,203-square-foot lease is the biggest signed in Coral Gables in 2011, taking 24% of the 273,000-square-foot, two-tower office and retail complex.

The company will take three full floors in the 15-story North Tower and two adjoining floors in the seventh-story South Tower. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The network will join tenants including Citibank, the law offices of Richman Greer, architecture firm RTKL, internet company Terra Networks and integrated marketing firm Kabookaboo.

Today, HBO Latin America's headquarters occupies 30,000 square feet at 4000 Ponce De Leon Blvd. in Coral Gables. The network also has Sunrise offices at 601 Sawgrass Corporate Parkway.

"Our company and our employees have a strong commitment with the City of Coral Gables and Miami-Dade County," said CEO Gaston Comas in a formal statement.

"We are proud to contribute to our community and the local economy in many ways, through the creation of jobs, through the sponsorship of artistic, charitable and cultural events, and the participation in the local chamber of commerce."
