Mexico, May 14.- The XII Mexico-Cuba Inter-parliamentary Meeting, which began Thursday, closed this Saturday in Merida, Yucatan.
Today’s discussions dealt with issues relating to Latin American integration, the situation in the Caribbean and Cuba.
These kinds of meetings are regularly held to boost bilateral economic cooperation and tourism, as well as talks on climate change and natural disaster prevention.
At this 12th session, both parties agreed to relaunch bilateral trade after an 8 year freeze, which at the time amounted to 400 million dollars per year.
Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon recalled that Mexico remains Cuba’s third largest partner in Latin America, after Venezuela and Brazil. Alarcon said that the Cuban government would like to see more Mexican business taking an interest in Cuban markets, as it was the case in the past. (RHC).
